I've grown up with them and I live on a Sheep Station in a very rural and remote part of South Australia where rain is a very precious and rare thing. My menagerie keeps me sane and includes 4 ponies, a off the track Standie, 2 rescued horses, a guinea pig, 7 cats, 3 dogs, a goat called Violet and several pet sheep who refuse to leave home and various other furry and fluffy creatures who help to inspire and uplift me in life.
I have a passion for everything Equine, including behaviour and psychology, nutrition, anatomy and my favorite subject, the Equine Hoof - which I find both inside and out to be truly fascinating. The technical diagrams that adorn my walls disturb most normal people and my siblings.
Curling up with my cat, Odysseus, in a comfy spot with with a great fantasy book and a cup of chai tea or coffee is my favorite thing to do in rare moments of spare time.
I also have a fascination for history, ancient myths and legends, and collecting random trivia.
I am currently working on a short story inspired by the gods of old that has been lurking in my brain for far too long.
My desire is that my art helps to reconnect animal lovers with their amazing four-legged friends and to enable others to see and feel through my art and story that we need to listen to our hearts and our animals rather than to what is traditional or conventional. That we need to find balance within ourselves and others, that we are not separate from each other or the amazing creatures or in fact the beautiful Earth on which we rest our feet/hooves/paws upon. That animals are amazing souls and are able to feel and experience as many emotions as we can. And that in their silence there is so much truth, truth that desperately needs to be heard.

I am a self taught artist, I have been drawing and painting various creatures as far back as I can remember being given paper and art supplies to experiment with.
In 2009 I rediscovered my love of creating art and took up Acrylics as a hobby. In late 2013 I was given some watercolour paints to play with. I began experimenting and I immediately fell in love with the medium's range of versatility and helped me grow to a new level. |
It's been quite a journey I now combine my watercolour paintings sometimes with many different mediums (pencil, watercolour pencils, Inktense pencils, pastels, water soluble graphite to name a few) to achieve just the right look that watercolours on their own can't, this gives to my paintings just a little something more.
I love to grow my skills and learn as much as I can. Learning to paint |
Not only am I a night owl (somehow turning morning lark) & artist but also a bibliophile, casual Library assistant at my local library, animal lover, horsewoman, and Certified Hoof Care Practitioner. I love reading about all the myths and legends from around the world, and I am obsessed with recreating the colours of the night sky, which is quite a prominent theme in a lot of my works. I am also quite draw to drawing foxes almost as much as horses.
I am completely and utterly mad about the Equine Hoof. In fact, my normally very quiet nature can transform quite dramatically if engaged on the topic of horse's hooves which I can easily spend hours on. I cannot watch horse movies without commenting on their feet! |
